OK, so it’s easy to say that a group is welcoming, it’s different to actually be welcoming to all. But we try and achieve this and exclusion on any grounds isn’t an option for us. Also, lots of our members don’t walk with groups, they’re members because they support our aims. That’s great, we desperately need that sort of help, but for those who want to walk with us, read on….
If you’re full of confidence, happy to phone people you don’t know and just turn up on a group walk, then that’s great. There are lots of walks on our walking programme, so just come along 🙂
But, for some people that might be a bit scary. Perhaps it’s a matter of confidence, perhaps it’s a matter of being concerned about being fit enough, perhaps it’s a concern about not being interesting enough. And on that latter point, we know people worry about this. Life isn’t always easy, there are a lot of people who face exclusion, isolation, a lack of confidence and a whole host of other issues. There are also other practical issues which can be faced, such as those with limited vision. But we can find solutions for all of these.
First step, message us or join our area on Meetup at http://www.meetup.com/Norfolk-Area-Ramblers/. We’ll do our very best to help find you a group that’s suitable, and do the little things we can, just as meeting you at your car if you’d like or meeting you before a social function to make breaking the ice just a little bit easier.
